はじめまして！

I'm Salad, or Sarah, whichever works for you ^^ Don't ask where "Salad" came from, one of my best friends coined it and even she can't remember how it came about. In any case it's a name that almost everyone calls me, so... XD

I'm a Singaporean fangirl of (practically) everything Japanese. In particular I like anime, manga, dorama and jpop. My affair with Japan has been ongoing ever since I was about 5, when I watched my first episode of anime on TV and was captivated.

Anime-wise, I have too many favourites to count but I suppose the top ones on my list would be Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu. Manga-wise, I love Bleach (at least up to the SS arc), One Piece, Fullmetal Alchemist and Rurouni Kenshin. I suppose you can kinda see that despite being a girl I really love Shounen XD

Dorama... I don't have many on my repertoire but of those that I've watched, I've particularly enjoyed 1 Litre of Tears, Hana Yori Dango, Hana Kimi, Maou and Yamada Tarou Monogatari. 1LoT and Maou have special places in my heart: 1LoT as the first J-dorama I ever watched, and Maou as the first J-dorama I followed right from when rumours about it surfaced all the way to the last episode. K-drama-wise, I watched and enjoyed Goong. I started but never finished Stairway to Heaven...

Okay, on to Jpop! My two favourite bands would have to be ARASHI and NEWS (and by extension Tegomass). Yup, that makes me a JE fangirl doesn't it? I'm not a big fan of the other bands under the JE umbrella (I fangirl KAT-TUN and Kanjani8 a bit); I like them but not as much as ARASHI and NEWS. I really love all the members (especially in ARASHI's case) but I suppose there has to be a favourite member right? For ARASHI it's a really difficult choice because they're all so lovable and I love them all for different aspects of their personality/talent, but I'd go with Ninomiya Kazunari. For NEWS, the choice isn't as hard and I'd say my favourite is Koyama Keiichirou.

Because of my ARASHI fandom I also got into all their TV shows and watching them regularly makes me wear big grins and erupt in laughter. I love VS ARASHI, D no ARASHI, G no ARASHI, ARASHI no Shukudai-kun... Honestly anything with ARASHI in it is enough to make me smile.

I'm brilingual. Yes, "bri", 2.5 ^^; I speak English most of the time, but my mother tongue is Chinese. I picked up Japanese from all the anime, dorama, manga and jpop that I watch/read/hear. Eh, but I'm still pretty bad at Japanese. I do best at reading, because of my Chinese background heh. Sometimes the Japanese speak too fast for me to catch so I mostly fail at listening - I'd only hear and understand random words. I talk to myself in Japanese a lot... half of it is probably grammatically incorrect though! Well, I've never gone for any lessons, but I intend to, soon, because I hope to be effectively TRIlingual eventually! ^^

I'm a Christian and proud of it. No matter what the world may say, I believe wholeheartedly that Jesus Christ did come down to Earth and die for our sins so that I, and all who believe, would be saved. My personal favourite verse is Phil 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." He is my cheerleader, my source of joy, my shoulder to cry on, my salvation, my best friend when I feel all the world has left me. Isn't He amazing? ^^

This journal is more an archive for fandom-related translations and such. I might post about IRL stuff here, but it'd probably be in Japanese as practice, though not always XD If you're looking for my normal (English haha) blog, that's here ^^

Also, I do not profess my translations to be 100% accurate. Firstly, I am NOT a native speaker of the Japanese language and hence am not very familiar with the little intricacies of this beautiful language that would only be known to them. Secondly, I've never taken language classes so all I know is self-taught and hence likely to be error-ridden. I try my best and if it's incorrect, I apologise. I appreciate any and all comments and corrections. Translations are my way of practicing and improving my Japanese and it's simply amazing how much my Japanese has improved since I started, and that's what makes it so enjoyable!
