First official installment of my 嵐10ATP project ^^ Refer to my previous post if you haven't read it already! Since it's still Jan, it's a 2009 article. It's still a little messy because I did it in a rush, but I'm posting it up first. I've gotta run now, so crossposting to communities will also be done later, as will the adding of scans. Till then!

By the way, I love this crosstalk and how they argue over how something is cooked, Jun wanting to get a part-time job, Nino and Aiba being obnoxious and demanding that Jun give them DVDs... ♥ And thank you, Jun, for realising how hard it is on the wallets to be a fangirl.

Arashi
dream within a dream

Arashi graces the cover for the second time this year. Christmas is just around the corner, so the theme of the photoshoot is "The Little Arashi who Entered the Toybox". The interview was a "Looking back on 2008" talk with all 5 of them... But, it ended up becoming a classic Arashi meaningless talk special (laughs).



Let's have Arashi, coverboys of the year's last Wink Up, look back on year 2008! What was something that left an impression on you, either as individuals or as Arashi?

Matsumoto: (glancing at the list) I guess it's got to be (Aiba-chan's) day as a fireman!
Ninomiya: I guess you can't leave that out, can you!
Aiba: I was doing my best, right from the morning (laughs)! Since it was my first time stepping into the fire station, it left an impression on me. It left one on Matsujun too!
Ninomiya: It's the mark of an idol.
Sakurai: It's idol-ish, isn't it. There hasn't been something like that in the past.
Ohno: There wasn't, there wasn't.
Matsumoto: Or rather, it's not something most male idols would do (laughs).
Aiba: Ahh~ That's true.
Ninomiya: That's why it's Akkiina [1] class, right?
Sakurai: Masakiina! Masakiina!
Ohno: Masakiina... Hehehe (laughs)
Matsumoto: Masakiina... It lacks colour [2] (laughs)
Ninomiya: Eh? We're not going with this name, are we?
Aiba: We're not! We're going with "Aiba Masaki"!
(Everyone together: Explosive laughter)

This year was a really strong year, wasn't it.

Sakurai: Somehow, the first thing this year was "FREESTYLE", but it didn't set the tone much for the rest of the year, did it
Aiba: It didn't. You could also say that "Step and Go" didn't have the feel of this year either.
Matsumoto: But for me, the first work I did once the year started was the recording for "Step~". So, for me, it gives me a feeling of this year.
Sakurai: When I came back from India, I gave out souvenirs to everyone at the PV filming. When the incense was lighted it stank so bad.
Aiba & Ohno: Hyahya~ (laughs)
Matsumoto: The smell was shocking
Ninomiya: It really stank, didn't it?
Sakurai: But it smelt so good in India (laughs)
Matsumoto: How was "FREESTYLE", Ohno-san?
Ohno: That's right... I started drawing that big thing (the graffiti) around April. The impression that left on me is strong after all.
Sakurai: But didn't you do "FREESTYLE ALL AROUND JAPAN" in May? It would have been great if you could do it in Asia too, like "~ AROUND ASIA". Wasn't there any mention of something like that?
Matsumoto: That's true. Was there any mention?
Ohno: That... Would have been troublesome in many ways.
Aiba: Would have been troublesome in many ways (laughs).
Matsumoto: But that's true. It would be troublesome if there was some mistake and some of the art pieces got lost or something. Although it's not exactly something you could just palm and walk away with [3].
Ninomiya: It would be terrible if they broke on the plane as they were being transported (laughs).
Sakurai: But it turned out good. I mean, if it was held only at Omotesando, some people who wanted to see it wouldn't have been able to
Ninomiya: The power of "FREESTYLE" knows no limits
Matsumoto: Iya~ I felt I saw some really great stuff there. By the way, at that time, I was extremely busy and in truth... I didn't really feel like going (laughs)
Sakurai: Kuhaha (laughs)!
Matsumoto: Like I kinda thought, why do I have to go when I'm already so busy? (laughs) But it was really good. I'm glad I went
Ohno: That's right. Everyone arranged their time so they could all come see it together, didn't you.
Sakurai: Why were we so busy? At that time. Matsujun was doing a movie?
Matsumoto: It was "Kakushi Toride~ [4]". Right at that time I was going back and forth to the set.
Sakurai: For me I think it was combined promotions for "Step and Go" and "FREESTYLE"? Together with Satoshi-kun. Wasn't it at Shibuya, Fukuoka and Nagoya?
Ohno: We did... We did, didn't we (laughs). It was a live telecast on Vision.
Matsumoto: Flowers from "Arashi-san" came, right? Ohno-san?
Ohno: They came. They were splendid flowers!
Sakurai: Flowers... huh (laughs).
Matsumoto: A mail suddenly came from Sakurai-kun who was there (laughs)
Sakurai: Iya... Wouldn't it have been interesting if all 4 of us each sent flowers on the opening day of "FREESTYLE" and they all got lined up there? That's what I said. But when I went there in the morning, the flowers everyone was supposed to have sent weren't there. So, I mailed everyone, "You didn't send flowers. It's no fun like this! Is it okay if I go order some?"
Matsumoto: "Since you're ordering, thanks," I said, and instantaneously he replied, "If we don't order them now, the flowers won't make it in time, so I've gone ahead and ordered them already, hope you don't mind".
Sakurai: I kinda got angry at the flowers (laughs)
Aiba: I can't imagine it at all. Sakurai-kun getting angry at flowers (laughs)
Ninomiya: Iya~ But it's all thanks to Sho-san! Without him, flowers from the 4 of us wouldn't have reached.



Right from early in the year, Oh-chan was really busy...

Ohno: You know, it's true, you know (laughs)
Sakurai: It's true
Ninomiya: Which did you feel was busier? The first half of the year or the second half?
Ohno: Iya... Which was it? Probably the second half, I guess.
Matsumoto: Not the first half? After all, your hecticness in second half was due to fishing, wasn't it?
Ninomiya: It's because in the first half of the year, various jobs came at you one by one right?
Ohno: That's right. But then, in the second half of the year, the drama began... That was bad too, I guess, after all (laughs)

"Odoroki no Arashi! Experiments of the Century SP5 (tentative)" (On Air 28th Dec) has been decided upon, but what kind of program is this to Arashi?

Sakurai: Well... They've allowed us to do this even as we're thinking "Stop at the next one!" (laughs). But I guess, in the end, the impression it leaves is amazing. I get told things like "I hear you're doing a program on experiments?". It's not like we do such experiments on "Shukudai-kun", so I guess the impression the special leaves must be pretty strong
Matsumoto: It's strong
Aiba: Because we risked our lives for it (laughs)
Ninomiya: So if they don't watch...
Sakurai: Right. I'm happy that they did watch
Matsumoto: If they didn't watch us although we risked our lives for it, it'd be pretty lonely (laughs).

I have the impression that Sho-kun is doing a big variety of jobs.

Sakurai: I worked lots this year, somehow. I even did ballet.
Matsumoto: That's right. You did ballet. With Hey! Say! JUMP.
Sakurai: That's right. I also filmed for "Yatterman"
Matsumoto: Speaking of "Yatterman", when did you film it?
Sakurai: May or June, I guess. Ah, no. It was March, April and May, I think.
Ninomiya: You filmed for 3 months!? That's like for dramas.
Sakurai: That's true. I have the feeling it was from the end of March to the start of May.
Matsumoto: That's amazing, that it took so long. Sho-kun's been doing so much, huh.
Sakurai: Somehow, I did a host of different things. It was refreshing.

Matsujun also had movies premiere back-to-back.

Matsumoto: That's right. That's why all the way until August, I was extremely busy. But right now, I'm su~per free (laughs). To the point that I'm thinking to myself, "Shall I go get a part-time job?"
Sakurai: Kuhaha (laughs). It would be interesting if you got a part-time job
Matsumoto: "What are you doing today?" "Part-time work!" (laughs)
(Everyone together: Explosive laughter)
Matsumoto: But you know, I went for promotions and stuff on my own so... I went overseas a lot this year. There are lots of stamps in my passport (laughs)

Everyone, did you watch Matsujun's movies?

Sakurai: I watched "Kakushi Toride~"! I got to watch it so I could comment on it on "ZERO".
Ninomiya: Cover your events properly! (strong retort)
Matsumoto: You guys say things like that, but did you actually watch it!?
Ninomiya & Aiba: We didn't!
Ohno: Erm... I didn't, either!
(Everyone together: Explosive laughter)
Ninomiya: Iya! If you'd give it (the DVD) to me? If you give it to me, I'll watch it!
Matsumoto: Don't go "If you'd give it to me"! Go watch it, you guys (laughs)
Ninomiya: No, no... It ends like this after all...
Aiba: But I have some "Kakushi Toride~" goods, a variety of them
Ninomiya: I've got a paper knife! A paper knife!
Aiba: I have a... Something that looks like this key holder
Sakurai: I have a cellphone strap
Matsumoto: Why? Did I give them to you?
Aiba: You distributed them to everyone. "Oh, Yay!" I thought as I received it.
Ninomiya: Didn't it make you feel like you'd gone to see the movie? Just for a moment?
Aiba: That's right. It's a privilege, isn't it? A privilege of those who'd gone to see the movie.

And now, the 5-dome tour!

Sakurai: 5-domes!
Ninomiya: This left a deep impression after all
Aiba: It was fun, it was really fun for me
Ninomiya: For me... That thing, you know. My birthday. We don't usually have lives in June. It was really the first time.
Aiba: You bought magic goods~
Ninomiya: They weren't magic goods! Those were party goods, weren't they?
Aiba: No, no (laughs). They were magic goods!
Matsumoto: They were totally magic goods!
Ninomiya: Party goods! No matter how you look at them. Flowers coming out and all... It's weird!
Sakurai: It suited you, didn't it?
Matsumoto: The mustache and all were good too, right?
Aiba: That's right, the mustache



Ninomiya: The mustache and bow tie and all! But then, that's also when Sho-san broke a bone. In the end, we've got lots of memories of the 5-dome tour. What kind of memories do you have, Ohno-san?
Ohno: Well, Sho-kun got injured and...
Ninomiya: (cutting in) But I already said that. Something else, say something else!
Sakurai: Ahaha! But! Wasn't Ohno-san right next to me then? Why didn't you save me (laughs)?
Aiba: That's true (laughs)
Ninomiya: Why? Why didn't you save him?
Matsumoto: Why was it that although you were the only one that flew, only you were unharmed?
Ninomiya: Everyone's wondering why.
Aiba: Why didn't you fly together with him?
Ohno: ... Are all of you dumb!!!
(Everyone together: Explosive laughter)
Ohno: But it was really dangerous.
Ninomiya: That's why I said on the whole, everything was good. What would have happened if the accident had happened earlier?
Matsumoto: Right, it would have been even more dangerous, right? So it's good.
Ohno: Moreover, it healed really fast, didn't it
Sakurai: It was really fast~ It's kinda gross that I'm saying that (laughs)
Ninomiya: It swelled up a lot, really
Matsumoto: It was a bother that you couldn't use your right hand, wasn't it?
Ninomiya: It was troublesome during the au CM filming, right?
Sakurai: Right, right. During that "Full Cha~nge!" CM and all, I couldn't hold a cellphone at all, so a cellphone had to be stuck onto the palm of my hand using double-sided tape (laughs). But even so, the domes were fun, weren't they~ I'm glad we got to do the 5 domes.
Ninomiya: During that time, you did it too, right? You did "FREESTYLE" right?
Sakurai: That was something you could see at every venue?
Ohno: Erm, you could see it everywhere except in Tokyo
Sakurai: You went in the mornings, didn't you? During the tour, you'd wake up early on your own to go, right?
Ohno: That's right, I went early in the mornings.

And then in the summer, there was "24 Hour Television" after 4 years

Sakurai: It sure went by fast, those 24 hours. I felt they went by much quicker than they did the previous time. Also, we were praised by Murao-san [5]. He said we were "youths who were extremely likable", didn't he?
Ninomiya: Murao-san (with an accent on the "Mu")
Aiba: Murao-san (imitating Nino)
Ninomiya: Everything Murao-san (still with an accent) said was used. I watched the special compilation video. Murao-san said, "It's better than being whispered about in the shadows"...
(Everyone together: Explosive laughter)
Aiba: It's not like we meant to whisper stuff about him, you know (laughs).
Sakurai: Murao-san said, "It's true, even I have become a little dull..."
Ninomiya: (facing Aiba) It's all your fault!
Matsumoto: He's totally, totally getting hated on, isn't he...
Ninomiya: He has a habit of getting hated on
Aiba: I can't meet him again at this rate, can I...
Sakurai: No such thing. He told me to "please tell them that they were youths that give off a good feeling" (laughs)
Matsumoto: What an adult... He's quite an adult, isn't he (laughs)
(Everyone together: Explosive laughter)
Aiba: Iyaa~ It was good! It was really great, wasn't it!
Ninomiya: Iyaa, but didn't the 24 hours this time feel different from before? I don't really know since it's not like I did it many times. We even got a letter from Tokumitsu-san [6], right? Saying something like "Somehow, everyone who participated hit it off rather well"
Sakurai: That's right. He made an analogy using baseball, right? #1-#5 are Arashi
Ninomiya: Then, #6 and #7 are Tutorial [7]... Something like that, right? Like that, it became everyone's 24 Hour Television. It's not how well the 24 hours were spent, but the quality of the camaraderie with the personalities this time. He said stuff like that.
Aiba: Because it was fun, right?
Ninomiya: It was fun
Matsumoto: It made me think once again that being able to do such a television program is amazing. Including the power of its influence. That holds true for its influencing power, as well as it's entertainment value, so it's a great program. Many people cooperated on it too.
Sakurai: Satoshi-kun was always making figurines, too, wasn't he?
Ninomiya: Because he always watched 24 Hour Television
Aiba: That's right, because he always looked at the stage, right?
Sakurai: How was it? 24 Hour Television?
Ohno: Ya, everyone was really awesome (laughs)
Matsumoto: Eh... That (laughs)? Arashi was the best?
Ohno: Arashi was the best! There's no VIP seat like that
(Everyone together: Explosive laughter)
Ninomiya: Making the things you wanted to make, looking at it like this (with his mouth open)
Matsumoto: Just like he would at home (laughs)
Ohno: Right! Exactly like at home (laughs). You got to see that live, you could say
Sakurai: Kuhahaha (explosive laughter)! Was it great?
Ohno: It was great!
Ninomiya: It was really great, wasn't it! We even got to sing "Sarai" (ending theme of 24hrtv), didn't we? That was amazing
Aiba: That, we were told that before the relay broadcast came? "It's coming soon~"?
Ohno: Right, right.
Aiba: Until then, you were apathetic (laughs)?
Matsumoto: Until then, you were just staring blankly with your mouth hanging open (laughs)?
Sakurai: While thinking "That was a good comment you made there, Toku-san [6]"?
Ohno: Yep, just staring blankly (laughs). Then, when the relay broadcast came...
Ninomiya: You made a comment like "I did it!"
Ohno: I did it! "I completed lots of figurines~!" (laughs)



Sakurai: Somehow it felt like a different place altogether. That place.
Ninomiya: It was fun, wasn't it, when you think about it like that

Now, we've finally come to the present. Right now, it's the Asia tour, right?

Matsumoto: Yep, that's right
Aiba: "finally come to the present", haven't we?
Sakurai: That's right! September?
Matsumoto: Amazing... It's already been quite some time since then (laughs)

You released 4 singles this year, and that's amazing too, isn't it?

Sakurai: It was big, wasn't it. Also, all the songs had a different colour to them. That was good
Matsumoto: It's good, it's a great thing
Sakurai: If you add in the album we released 5 CDs?
Matsumoto: We're a group you can't help but spend money on (laughs)
Ninomiya: We also released a photobook with tour pictures, right?
Aiba: Plus we had 2 tours
Matsumoto: You've also got to buy our goods, watch our movies... That's gotta be hard!
Ninomiya: You're right
Matsumoto: And at the end, movies and dramas also get released on DVD... It's gotta be really hard on them
Aiba: Speaking of Matsujun's movie's DVDs... When are they coming out?
Matsumoto: Since you guys didn't watch the movie, get yourself a copy!
Aiba: Give me one!
Ninomiya: Wait a second! Hurry and bring one for us!
Aiba: Bring both of them ("Kakushi Toride~" and "Hanadan") for us!
Ninomiya: Idiot!
Matsumoto: Don't go telling me "bring them for us!"! Buy it yourself!!
Ninomiya: Why do we have to buy it~ Why can't you do it! Because we sang the theme songs!
Sakurai: You know, for "Kakushi Toride~"? Since we sang the theme song, right?
Matsumoto: "Uragiri gomen ♪ [8]", you mean? That was by Hotei-san [8]! Arashi didn't sing it (laughs)!

And lastly, your plans and such for the end of the year...

Ninomiya: When it comes to the end of the year, I guess, in the end, the image of year-end special music shows is strong, isn't it!
Matsumoto: For me, FN★※◇　（he wanted to say "FNS", but he stumbled and got bullied by the rest) ... Shut up, would you, it's FNS (getting angry instead)! When FNS starts, I think the end of the year has come. I think, "this year's come to an end, hasn't it".
Ninomiya: What are we going to sing? Isn't there a song that would represent us, the Arashi of 2008?
Sakurai: Well, I guess it'd be "truth", right?
Aiba: I concur
Matsumoto: But if we just sing that one for all of them (all the special music shows), wouldn't it be interesting?
Sakurai: I want to do a medley or something
Aiba: A medley!
Matsumoto: But it's hard to do medleys (laughs)
Ninomiya: Iya~ but it'd be great. If we could sing all 4 songs
Aiba: And also that we have the option of choosing from 4 of them
Ohno: That's right
Ninomiya: It's amazing that we have options. Once again, the end of the year is coming
Matsumoto: I wonder if we'll get to eat spring rolls at Aiba-chan's house again during the M-sute SP, microwaved...
Aiba: Oi! They aren't microwaved, I told you they're fried (laughs)! We fry them properly.
Ninomiya: Then, what gets microwaved? Fried rice?
Aiba: Eh? Not fried rice. Microwaved things are those things, you know, heated sake and such, when we heat it up. And also, meals.
Matsumoto: How about rice?
Aiba: I told you we cook (boil in a rice cooker etc) the rice!
Ninomiya: Iyaa, but it's the end of the year, you know. It's hard, really. At the end of the year is when we're the free-est we ever are!
Matsumoto: In all honesty (laughs)
Ninomiya: That's right. Apart from appearing on FNS and all that, I don't know what else to do. I'm really free, in fact (laughs). And then, the question that arises will be whether or not Sakurai Sho will catch a cold again, right?
Sakurai: I haven't caught one in 2 years
Ninomiya: Eh? Didn't you catch one last year?
Sakurai: Eh? I did?
Aiba: I thought you didn't?
Sakurai: Iya, I don't think I caught one.
Ninomiya: Well, anyway, there's also the countdown, isn't there?
Matsumoto: Once we do that then it becomes next year already. What shall we do, Ohno-san? Next year?
Ohno: ... Eh?
Matsumoto: Nothing!?
Ninomiya: He's getting angry at you. You've got to reply when he asks you what we're going to do next year
Sakurai: Alright! What kind of year shall we make 2009?
Aiba: One with enthusiasm like that?
Ohno: Enthusiasm? Well... I'd be satisfied if everyone were just alive
Aiba, Matsumoto, Ninomiya, Sakurai: ... (burst out laughing) ... Thank you. Something else, please
Ohno: Well, if everyone could be healthy...
Aiba: It didn't change much... (laughs)
Ohno: Without getting sick, you know? I mean, if you get sick, you can't do anything!
Aiba: That's true
Ninomiya: That's right, that's right! Sorry!
Matsumoto: Then, shall we settle on that?
Ohno: Yes! Let's make it a great year without getting sick!
Everyone: (explosive laughter) That's right, let's do our best without getting sick!

[7] I don't know baseball and don't get exactly what the analogy is supposed to mean, but Tutorial is the comedy duo that were also on 24hTV. They've also appeared on Arashi no Shukudai-kun and a few other regular Arashi shows (maybe all the current ones, I'm a little lazy to check XD)

[8] Hotei Tomoyasu sang the theme song for "Kakushi Toride", "Uragiri Gomen", as part of the temporary unit "The THREE", along with KREVA and Kameda Seiji.
